Biography

Daryl received his undergraduate degree from East Tennessee State University in 1974 and graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1982. He practiced law in Knoxville for 15 years as a trial lawyer and civil mediator and was one of the first mediators and arbitrators in Knox County listed by the Tennessee Supreme Court. In 1998, Daryl was elected as Chancellor, Part II, Sixth Judicial District, and served on the Court for 16 years until 2014. In addition, Daryl served as an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee and Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law. He has been listed as a Rule 31 mediator by the Tennessee Supreme Court and currently serves on the federal mediation panel of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.

Daryl currently serves on the Advisory Board for The Salvation Army and Knoxville Area Command, as well as on the Board of Directors for the Museum of Appalachia. He and his wife, Phyllis, live in Knoxville and have three children and several grandchildren.
