Born in Rockwood, Tennessee, Jim graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1980 where he received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting. In 1983, Jim graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and Tennessee Law Review.
Before he started practicing law in 1984, Jim was a Certified Public Accountant. In 1990, Jim joined the Bernstein, Stair & McAdams team where he now practices in the fields of business & corporate law, real estate development & finance, and civil litigation. He is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and Knoxville Bar Association.
In his free time, Jim serves on the board of the Cancer Supporting Community for East Tennessee and enjoys welding. Several of his art pieces are featured in public spaces throughout the Knoxville area.
